VLT Cabaret nostalgic and melodious:
Forever Plaid ,
brings "Moments to Remember" back in Pinkerton TheatreVenice Little Theatre continues its 2007-08 Cabaret Series with Forever Plaid, an off-Broadway musical hit of the 1990's that is now performed internationally. Often called the "heavenly musical hit", it is one of the most successful musicals in recent memory.
Forever Plaid opens in the Pinkerton theatre on November 27, 2007 and runs through December 29, 2007 with performances Tuesday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $23.00 and are available now at the theatre’s box office, at 941-488-1115 or online at
www.venicestage.com.Forever Plaid tells the story of four young male singers who, although killed in a car crash in the 1950's on the way to their first big concert, are miraculously revived. They now have the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was.
The four - lovingly modeled on the popular "guy groups" of the 1950's, like The Four Freshmen and The Four Aces - are on their way to their first concert when they are hit by a bus full of Catholic school girls on their way to see The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. The circumstances are, of course, a metaphor for what happened to the harmonic groups after The Beatles ascendence.
In their absolutely magic revival, they also revive the sounds of those days, treating audiences to favorites like "Love Is A Many-Splendored Thing", "Three Coins in A Fountain", "Moments to Remember" and "Magic Moments".
Directing is Steven Flaa, who directed the theatre’s earlier cabaret production of The Big Bang. Ken Crisp is Musical Director. The foursome are played by Brian Fortner, David P. Brown, Nidal Zarour and Tom Westlake.
The theatre’s lobby bar will be open during all performances.
This production is being sponsored by Jacaranda Trace of Venice.
The theatre is located at 140 West Tampa Avenue, on the island in Venice. Tickets are available by phone at 941-488-1115 or at the box office in person from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The box office opens one hour before all shows for walk-up tickets. Tickets are also available 24-hours a day at the theatre’s website, www.venicestage.com.
