Registration open for VLT’s Spring 2008 classes for adults and children

Venice Little Theatre is accepting registrations for its Spring 2008 classes – all of which are performance classes. There are both classes for children and adults. Enrollment is limited and is on a first come basis. Classes begin the week of January 7, 2008 and run eight to ten weeks with class showcases and performances on the theatre’s MainStage in March of 2008.

Registration forms are available at the theatre’s box office, through the mail or can be downloaded from the theatre’s website at www.venicestage.com. 

Students may also register by phone with a credit card by calling Sandy or Clair in the Education Department at 941-486-8679. Full payment and a completed registration form are required to guarantee a space in a class.

Details of all classes offered are listed below, organized by age.

The theatre is located at 140 West Tampa Avenue on the island in Venice. The Box Office is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday.

 

YOUNGEST STUDENTS - Grades Pre-K THRU Grade 2

There are three performance classes offered for the youngest students, for "budding little actors". They are Showbiz for Pre-K students, Little Stars on Stage Perform for K-1 and Little Stars on Stage Perform for Grade 2. All three will introduce these very young students to the world of acting and musical theatre.

Thursdays 4:30 to 6pm. Begins January 10 (10 consecutive weeks) - $195

LITTLE STARS ON STAGE K-1

Tuesdays 4:30-6:00 pm. Starts Jan 8 (9 consecutive weeks) - $195

Fridays 4:30-6:00 pm. Starts Jan 11 (9 consecutive weeks) - $195

LITTLE STARS PERFORM GRADE 2

Mondays 4:30-6:00 pm. Starts Jan 7 (9 consecutive weeks) - $195

Tuesdays 4:30-6:00 pm. Starts Jan 8 (9 consecutive weeks) - $195

Grades K thru 2: SPRING BREAK CAMP March 31 – April 4

School’s out . . .theatre’s in ! Spring break camp at VLT offers a week of fun and frolic for performers in grades K through 2. Students will work on acting, voice and dance skills during this week long theatrical adventure! Camps begin March 31, 2008.

K-1 Every day from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm - $125

Grade 2 Every day from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm - $125

 

GRADES 3 THROUGH 8 - BEGINNING CLASSES

The theatre continues to offer two sections of its very popular Beginning Creative Dramatics Perform class – one each for grades 3-5 and grades 6-8.

Thursdays 4:30-6:00 pm. Starts Jan 10 (9 consecutive weeks) - $195

BEGINNING CREATIVE DRAMATICS GRADES 6-8

GRADES 3 THROUGH 8 - INTERMEDIATE CLASSES

Two intermediate classes are available for students in Grades 3-5. They are Broadway Stars Perform, an exploration into Musical Theatre and The Character’s Choice Perform, an exploration of improv, the world of the play and the character.

Wednesdays 4:00-5:30 pm. Starts Jan 9 (9 consecutive Weeks) - $210

CHARACTER’S CHOICE PERFORM

Wednesdays 4:30-6:00 pm. Starts Jan 9 (9 consecutive Weeks) - $210

Intermediate classes are also offered for students in Grades 6-8. They include Broadway Bound Perform, where students hone their musical theatre skills and The Actor’s Choice Perform, a class to sharpen the students’ acting choices.

TEENS - FOR ADVANCED TEEN ACTORS

VLT is offering an exiting new class for the advanced teen performer this spring: The Most Famous Moments in Theatre History - for Teens Only. In this unique class, students build and hone the skills needed to perform signature scenes from the most famous moments in theatre history.

Saturdays 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Starts Jan 12 (10 consecutive weeks) - $ 210

 

ADULTS – CREATIVE DRAMATICS FOR THE DEVELOPMENTALLY CHALLENGED

Once again, VLT offers Creative Dramatics for the Developmentally Challenged, which explores imagination, listening skills and collaboration through improv, vocal and physical theatre games and exercises. This class starts on March 27, 2008, runs for ten weeks and will perform as a curtain raiser for VLT’s MainStage Loveland Follies Show on June 7 and 8, 2008.

CREATIVE DRAMATICS FOR THE DEVELOPMENTALLY CHALLENGED

Thursdays 4:00-5:30 pm. Starts March 27 (10 consecutive weeks) - $190

 

ADULTS – FOCUS ON AUDITIONS FOR THIS SEASON

Responding to requests from adult actors, the theatre has scheduled a new class Bogs, Narrow Gates, Horns and Towns, which will prepare adult students for upcoming auditions at VLT. Even those not planning to audition will find int his class a chance to advance performance skills.

ADULTS – NIA

The theatre continues to offer a NIA Class. NIA is a unique approach to a toned body and creative expression through a blend of dance, healing and martial arts.

NIA Wednesdays 4:00-5:00 pm. Starts Jan (9 consecutive Weeks) - $195
