The concerts are co-produced by Merrill Lynch.Inducted into the Doo-Wopp Hall of Fame of in 2006, the eternally popular harmony group is best known for topping the 1957 charts for 35 weeks with its rendition of "Little Darlin". "The Stroll" quickly followed and hit Number Four on the Billboard charts, inspiring its own dance sensation that had teenagers across the country (and in Europe) perfecting the moves to "The Stroll".
Bringing their tight harmonies, humor and lively choreography to the stage in a blast-from-the-past celebration, The Diamonds are an audience favorite in Florida, around the US, and – in fact – the world over. After more than 50 years and 40 million records, The Diamonds still rock with a hard-driving entertaining stage show that mixes their hits of the 50's and 60's with stunning tributes to the classic four-part vocal groups of the era - The Four Lads, The Four Aces, and The Four Seasons, to name but a few.
Venice Little Theatre is located at 140 West Tampa Ave. on the island in Venice. The Box Office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday and an hour before each performance. Tickets may be charged by phone at 941-488-1115 or online at www.venicestage.com.
SOME BACKGROUND ON THE DIAMONDS:
The Diamonds began recording in 1956, with the hit record "Why Do Fools Fall in Love". This was followed by "Church Bells May Ring" and in early 1957, they recorded "Little Darlin'". That year "Little Darlin'" was one of the most popular songs in America as well as Europe, staying on the charts for 35 weeks. It is now considered a rock and roll classic, dubbed the "National Anthem of Rock and Roll." Continuing with a string of hits including "The Stroll," "Silhouettes," "She Say," "One Summer Night" and "Thousand Miles Away," The Diamonds have sold over 40 million records.
The Diamonds continue to record to this day. Performing their highly entertaining stage act and concentrating on major hotels, conventions, fairs, amusement parks and concerts, The Diamonds remain a favorite among audiences the world over. As The Diamonds so aptly state, "The audiences we perform for, continually tell us that we have helped them reach back and grab some of the fun and excitement that we all grew up with."
