‘Always, Patsy Cline’ coming to VLT MainStage after tour performances in Rehoboth Beach
When the Venice Little Theatre Cabaret production of Always, Patsy Cline opens later this month for its brief run on the theatre’s MainStage, the 12-member cast and crew will have already wrapped up a tour to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. For the second year. A popular show, this production!
Always, Patsy Cline will be in the MainStage for three performances on August 24, 25 and 26, 2007, all at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $23 and are onsale now in the theatre’s box office, by phone at 941-488-1115 or online at
www.venicestage.comThe show, first performed in 2004 as part of VLT’s first Cabaret ‘season’ has proved so popular that it was reprised in Venice in 2005 and again in 2006.
The theatre thought it had closed Always, Patsy Cline, when executives of the Henlopen Theatre Project from Delaware, who were vacationing in the area, contacted VLT’s Allan Kollar to see if a tour was possible. The Delaware company had previously – and very successfully – booked VLT’s production of Greater Tuna into their theatre. Again, they had been taken with the excitement of a VLT production and wanted to repeat their earlier experience.
One of the best-loved names in country music is the subject of Always, Patsy Cline. A funny and touching tribute, it employs the true story of Cline’s friendship with Houston housewife and avid fan, Louise Seger, to frame the story and the music. Seger acts as the narrator of Cline’s story.
In spite of her tragically brief career, Cline’s voice continues to enthrall millions of fans and influence many of today’s country and pop singers. This intimate show celebrates the music and includes Patsy Cline classics like "I Fall to Pieces", "Your Cheatin’ Heart", "Walkin’ After Midnight" and "Crazy".
Directing is Allan Kollar, with musical direction by Jason Brenner, who will be onstage playing piano. With him will be Preston Boyd (on guitar), Dorian Boyd (on bass), Paul Henry (on drums) and Larry Bell (on steel guitar).
In the role of Patsy is Tamara Sipes. Becky Holahan plays Louise. Holahan and Sipes have been performing this show together since 2004.
The theatre is located at 140 W. Tampa Ave. Summer box office hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday and one hour before all performances.
