Apartment 3A by Jeff Daniels to replace Jacques Brel in VLT's 2007-08 Stage II season

Venice Little Theatre announces a change in its 2007-08 Stage II season schedule. Apartment 3A by Jeff Daniels, will have its Florida premiere when it replaces the previously announced production of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.

Murray Chase, the theatre's Artistic/Managing Director, said "We are thrilled that we've been given an opportunity to host the Florida premiere of this work by Daniels, who is rapidly becoming a top-tier American playwright."

Daniels’ plays have their debut at The Purple Rose, the professional non-profit theatre he founded in Michigan – which was the case with Apartment 3A –after which they are available to theatres around the country. (At the founding of The Purple Rose, Daniels is said to have noted "In case you haven’t noticed, the New American Play can’t get a cup of coffee in New York.")

This marks the third play by Daniels to be produced in Venice. Both earlier shows were part of the Stage II season; The Vast Difference in the 2002-03 season and Boom Town in the 2003-04 season. Boom Town was named Best Play that year by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and by Sarasota Magazine.

Venice Little Theatre is located at 140 West Tampa Avenue, on the island in Venice. The Box Office is still on summer hours and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
