Loveland

Becky-boysThe Loveland Center and Venice Theatre Partnership is in its 16th year. The collaboration between the two non-profit organizations gives students with developmental challenges the opportunity to learn life skills through theatre study. Participants meet at the theatre twice weekly throughout the season for classes and rehearsals which culminate in a full-scale production on Venice Theatre’s MainStage. The program is so popular that there is a waiting list and a required audition for new students who are interested in participating. After last year’s performance of Camp Broadway, Loveland Center’s Executive Director Carl Penxa was quoted as saying, “They blew it out of the water this year. We need to get more students involved in this tremendous opportunity.”

Becky Holahan, Loveland's program director, recently said, "The 2011 show is our most ambitious production!" Ronald Myroup's original play Disco Nights opened June 2 to a full house and ran through June 5. The musical was a huge success, selling more tickets than ever and bringing audiences to their feet! Thank you to all involved!
