Last year's play was The Pied Piper of Hamlin, by VT's own playwright in residence Ronald K. Myroup. The 16th-century legend expanded into a narrative whose moral or lesson was, that it is important to be accountable for your actions. Troupe in a Trunk is an outreach program of Venice Theatre. Troupe inspires students' imaginations by bringing live performances to Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte County elementary schools. Troupe encourages students to use their creativity as a learning tool ... by engaging senses not ordinarily utilized.Before each performance, the theatre provides teachers with materials related to the play. The teachers and students have the opportunity for discussion before or after the performance. Each school is also requested to assess and evaluate the performances in an effort to improve future productions. THANKS to our sponsors the performances are offered to the schools free of charge.
